Masonry Cement Type N

ASTM C-91

Masonry cements are cements designed for use in mortar for brick, block and stone masonry construction. They are usually composed of a blend of Portland cement and plasticizing materials such as hydrated lime, limestone, or talc and other materials introduced to enhance the cement properties. Materials are usually selected for their ability to impart workability, plasticity and water retention. The components are proportioned at the manufacturing plant to assure product consistency.

Masonry cements meet the requirements of ASTM C-91, which classifies them as Type N or Type S for use in ASTM C-270 Type N or Type S mortars.
